Qazvin Wind Farm Output Increases

The first phase of Kohak Wind Farm expansion program. that cost $92 million was completed by Iran`s MAPNA Group in 18 months. Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian announced on Sunday. According to Chitchian. the capacity of the wind farm. located near Kohak village in Takestan. Qazvin Province. has increased from 20 megawatts to 55 MW and plans are in place to boost the output capacity to 100 MW in the third phase. IRNA reported. The farm is equipped with 22 turbines. 10 of which are operational and the rest will be connected to the national electricity grid by the end of the current fiscal year on March 20. The main parts of the wind turbines. namely the towers. foundation. rotor blades and control panels. were manufactured by MAPNA. Chitchian added that the electricity produced is purchased by the Energy Ministry based on an agreement with the Renewable Energy Organization of Iran (SUNA). The minister also broke ground for a 2 MW solar power plant project in Takestan.
