Development operations to connect offshore platforms of Phase 14 of the South Pars Gas Field in the Persian Gulf to onshore facilities in the port city of Asalouyeh have gained momentum. the contractor of South Pars Phase 14 said on Saturday.
`The second 109-kilometer pipeline in Phase14 that has already been extended to 88 km will be completed in two weeks.` Hamidreza Masoudi was also quoted as saying by the National Iranian Oil Company news portal.
Pointing to the development of the first pipe-laying project. Masoudi said the 103-km pipeline was laid successfully last month.
According to the official. satellite platforms of the phase (C14 and D14) will be connected to main platforms (B14 and A14) with the help of two 18-inch pipelines.
Asked about Phase 14 drilling operations. he said 22 wells have been drilled and concerted effort is being made to complete the rest in the near future.
`Phase 14 contractor has purchased the much-needed corrosion resistant alloy pipelines and operations are underway to prepare the installation of Platform C14.` Masoudi said. adding that construction of a 5-kilometer pipeline is on the agenda to transfer sour natural gas from platform A14 to Phase 12 refinery.
On the construction of Phase 14 main platforms. the official noted that Iran Shipbuilding &. Offshore Industries Company (ISOICO) is completing platforms A14 and B14 in its shipyard. located near Bandar Abbas.
The official said plans have been made to install the main platforms in their location by December.
`ISOICO is also building the satellite platforms C14 and D14.` he said. adding that the project has registered a progress rate of 72% and plans are in place to ship them to their location in November.
According to Masoudi. Phase 14 onshore utility units. namely processing trains. sulfur recycling plants and gas injection units linked to Iran`s Gas Trunkline—aka IGAT—will be up and running by March 2018.
Phase 14 is slated to produce 56 million cubic meters of gas and 75.000 barrels of gas condensates per year to meet domestic gas demand and supply feedstock to petrochemical units in the Pars Special Energy Economic Zone in the southern Bushehr Province.
The phase is also expected to produce more than 1 million tons of gas condensates. 1 million tons of ethane for petrochemical units and 400 tons of brimstone per year.
A consortium of Iranian companies is working on Phase 14. including the Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company. Industrial Development and Renovation Organization. National Iranian Drilling Company and ISOICO.
South Pars is the world’s largest gas field. shared between Iran and Qatar. covering an area of 3.700 square kilometers of Iran’s territorial waters in the Persian Gulf.
In fiscal 2016-17. gas production from South Pars increased to 520 mcm d. up more than 150 mcm d compared with the previous year. Iran’s total gas output is at 885 mcm d. according to published reports.
