Azar. Azadegan Joint Oilfield Have Stabilized Production

Production from Azar and Azadegan joint oilfields have stabilized with the implementation of development plans.
According to an IRNA report. Azar oilfield currently produces 30.000 barrels per day (bpd) while production from Azadegan oilfield has increased by 22.000 bpd with the launching 14 new oil wells. The two oilfields are shared with Iraq.
During the tenure of 11th government (2013-17). Iran closed the production gap from South Pars Gas Field with Qatar by concentrating on the development of incomplete phases.
Azar oilfield in Ilam Province has pumped over 4.5 million barrels of crude oil since it went into operation and National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has drilled over 176.000 meters of oil wells in the field.
The report further said that NIOC also has plans to drill seven wells to raise production to 65.000 bpd.
Azar oilfield will produce annually 100.000 barrels of crude oil once the second phase of its development plan is completed.
The project will be implemented within the framework of Iran Petroleum Contract in cooperation with foreign companies including Russia`s Gazprom Neft.
The report also shows that Azadegan oilfield. which is considered as Iran`s largest oilfield. has stabilized its daily production to 83.000 barrels.
NIOC has drilled 54 wells to attain the current level of production in Azadegan oilfield. in Khuzestan Province. which holds 33 billion barrels of proven crude oil reserves.
Based on the report. the development projects of Azadegan oilfield will start under IPC framework in the near future.
