NIOC Considers Gazprom Proposal for Development of North Pars Field

National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has ended investigating Russian Gazprom company`s proposal for development of North Pars field.

The US President Donald Trump had in May 2018 left the JCPOA and announced unilateral restoration of the Iran sanctions. once suspended. within a period of 90 to 180 days.

Hence certain international companies decided to leave Iran oil projects but a number of others. including Gazprom. voiced willingness to continue presence.

Hence the NIOC announced investigating the projects for development of Kangan and Dalan reserves in North Pars gas field.

North Pars field is 120 kms southeast of Bushehr. 10 to 15 kms in northern coastlines of Persian Gulf.

Gazprom had recently submitted proposals to the NIOC to study Changuleh and Cheshmekhosh fields.

Iran`s Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zanganeh had already announced that Russian Gazprom had announced readiness to contribute to the project for transfer of Iranian gas to Pakistan and India.

He said Iran in return voiced readiness for export of Iranian gas and Gazprom was to make coordination with India and Pakistan in that respect.
