Brazil`s Biggest Refinery Partially Terminate

Brazil`s oil and gas regulator ANP ordered the partial shutdown of the country`s largest oil refinery. Paulínia in São Paulo state. after an accident.

According to state-run oil firm Petrobras. which operates the refinery. the decision – which it was notified of on Friday – is a precautionary measure and it will keep making deliveries.

On August 20. a fire at Replan caused an explosion in an acidic water tank associated with the catalytic cracking unit. It also impacted one of the atmospheric distillation units of the refinery.

Petrobras said in a statement on Monday it is `compiling the documents and information required by the ANP to attest the appropriate safety conditions for the operation resumption at the units that were not affected by the accident.`

The company said it will wait for the precautionary measure to be lifted by the agency. and maintains the expectation that production can restart in the next few days.

According to ANP data. Replan processed 11Mb of oil in July.
