Iran Boasts Stability in Tax Collection

According to Dejpasand. up to 1.09 quadrillion rials (above $8.2 billion) of tax revenues were earned during the previous Iranian calendar year of 1397.

Underlining the necessity of reducing the country’s reliance on oil revenues via increasing dependence on tax income. he informed that in recent years. the government could earn up to 97 percent of the predicted tax income.

On Thursday. Dejpasand said that Tehran is resolute to put an end to its economy’s dependence on revenues from crude exports. adding that trade and the capacities of the country’s countless ports can be tapped into more seriously.

Ports in general. and specially Amirabad Port. can play a leading role in this regard due to the country’s unique port. maritime and logistic capabilities. Dejpasand said. on the sidelines of his visit to Amirabad Port in Northern Iran today. after lamenting that current budget dependency on oil exports is the most important economic objective in the country.

He pointed to Amirabad Port in delegation of current activities to the investor of private sector and said. this port is considered as a suitable model for other ports of the country.

Location of Amirabad port in North-South Corridor. as a connection bridge linking Central Asian countries and also northern Caspian Sea with southern part of the country. can help increase transit of goods in this port. the economy minister maintained.

He termed Amirabad Port as a promising and dependable part of Iranian economy and added. Increasing the loading and unloading volume of cargoes and export of relevant commodities can boost production especially in the current year named after “Boosting Domestic Production“ by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

As the largest economic enterprise in Northern part of the country. Amirabad Port can play a leading and important role in boosting economy of the country. he reiterated.

Last month. Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri stated that the country has taken a wide stride in reducing its dependence on crude revenues during the course of a several-year-long planning.

Fortunately. as a result of efforts made in recent years. the extent of budget`s dependence on oil revenues has reduced so much. Jahangiri said. addressing a meeting of the Supreme Council for Science. Research and Technology in Tehran on May 14.

He reminded that the government`s budget depended 80% to 90% on oil in the past. saying. This dependence has today decreased to 30%.

In relevant remarks in April. Iranian Industry Minister Reza Rahmani said that the government is resolved to set the stage for a major increase in the volume of non-oil exports in the current local calendar year (March 21. 2019-March 20. 2020).

One billion dollars of exports creates 50.000 jobs. Rahmani said in a meeting in the Western province of Kermanshah. underlining the significance of facilitating exports.

Production prosperity and preserving production units play a great role in job creation and uprooting unemployment. he added. calling on all the state-run organizations to cooperate for reaching the set exports targets.

Also. Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said in March that economic issues still remained atop the country’s concerns. and called on the government and the nation to boost production in the country.

Ayatollah Khamenei. in his televised message to the nation on the occasion of the New Persian Year. offered congratulations to the Iranians on the occasion of Nowruz. and named the New Year of 1398 as the year of Pick-up in Production.
