Iranian. Tajik Airlines Resume Direct Flights

Direct flights between Iran and Tajikistan were resumed officially on Thursday.

After several months of halt. the direct flight services between the two countries were resumed and according to the schedule. this flight will be on Thursdays every week at 9:15 am from the international airport of Mashhad to the international airport of Dushanbe and return will be at 13:00 the same day.

Two airlines of Sky and Tajik Air had previously flights on Mashhad-Dushanbe and Dushanbe-Tehran. which had been halted since last year. and passengers heading to Iran and Tajikistan had to travel on an indirect route through third countries. which. in addition to increasing travel costs. increased travel time.

According to Iran`s embassy in Dushanbe. given the development of relations between the two countries. the increase in the number of passengers. the approval of airline companies of the two countries. and more use of the capacity of Iranian and Tajik airline companies. the number of direct flights between the two countries will increase in the future.

On Saturday. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Tajik counterpart Sirodjidin Muhriddin. in a meeting in Tehran. pledged to expand bilateral relations between the two countries.

In the meeting. Zarif and Muhriddin underlined the need to boost bilateral cooperation in different fields of mutual interests.

Expanding political. economic. and parliamentary ties. boosting energy and transportation cooperation. holding political and consular meetings. and fighting against terrorism and extremism were among discussed topics of the meeting.

Heading a high-ranking delegation. Muhriddin arrived in Tehran on last Friday evening. Late on Friday. he held a meeting with Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian to discuss energy cooperation between the two countries. 

Back in mid-March. Iran`s new Ambassador to Tajikistan Mohammad Taqi Saberi met with Muhriddin in Dushanbe. and underlined that the ground is ready for consolidating bilateral ties between the two sides.

Iranian and Tajik diplomats lauded the two countries’ shared history and huge cultural commonalities in a meeting in Dushanbe. and voiced the two countries` determination to further strengthen bilateral relations.
