Iran’s Energy Minister Praises Tehran-Moscow Deal

Addressing the closing ceremony of the 15th joint economic cooperation meeting of Iran and Russia in Iranian central city of Isfahan today. Ardakanian said that the two countries were expected to sign 7 documents of cooperation today. devised in the framework of bilateral agreements. but the extensive participation of the Russian side led to the endorsement of 12 documents.

The Iranian minister went on recounting some of the agreements. adding that the two countries have agreed to sign documents on optimizing Ramin power plant in Iran`s Southwestern city of Ahvaz. expand cooperation in areas of electric energy. air transportation. and rail transportation. as well as starting the electrification of Garmsar-Inche Borun rail route in Northern Iran within the next 2 months.

He added that the two counties have also agreed to cooperate on electrifying rail routes of Sarakhs-Bandar Abbas and Tehran-Tabriz. Constructing rail tracks between Chabahar and Zahedan to link the two major cities of Sistan and Baluchistan Province to the rail route to the strategic Northeastern city of Mashhad was also agreed.

The minister added that the two countries have also agreed to increase trade in area of farmed fish and medicine.

Setting up marine route in the Caspian Sea for recreational purposes was another area of agreement between Tehran and Moscow.

Expanding Bushehr atomic energy power plant is also another area. the two countries have agreed to cooperate on for further bilateral interactions.

Russian companies will also build 4 thermal power plants in Iran’s Southern province of Hormuzgan. Ardakanian highlighted. recounting the agreements brokered in the last 3 days.

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said on Monday that both Tehran and Moscow are resolute to further increase bilateral ties in all areas. particularly in economic fields where Washington has put its weight to isolate the Islamic Republic.

Speaking in a dinner banquet held in honor of dignitaries taking part in the 15th joint economic cooperation meeting of Iran and Russia in Isfahan. Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak acknowledged good neighborly relations and partnership of Iran and Russia. saying both countries are determined to promote cooperation.  

Novak gave assurances that the current event in historical city of Isfahan will help develop economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier on Sunday. Ardakanian in a meeting with Minister of North Caucasus Affairs Sergei Chebotarev. said that Tehran adopted mechanism to facilitate partnership between the Iranian and Russian private sectors in a bid to help bolster economic ties.

Meanwhile. Chebotarev described political determination of Iranian and Russian presidents as the most important means to ensure on-time implementation of development projects in both sides.  

Necessary structures have been created by the Russian government. he said. adding that all Russian organizations have put on their agenda promoting relations with Iran. he said. 

He added that Russia is interested in exporting red meat and crops to Iran.

Russia has voiced its determination to form a bloc in defiance of US’ unilateral economic pressures. In a most recent case of Russian opposition to Washington’s moves. Russian Ambassador to Tehran Levan Dzhagaryan said on Sunday that Tehran. Beijing and Moscow are needed to form a strategic trilateral cooperation to defy the US unilateral measures against the landmark nuclear agreement of 2015.
