EU Official Declares Start of INSTEX Operations

INSTEX now operational. first transactions being processed and more EU Members States to join. Good progress on Arak and Fordow projects. Schmid wrote on her twitter account on Friday after a meeting of the Joint Commission on JCPOA ended in Vienna following three and a half hours of talks by the remaining signatories to the deal (the EU3 and Russia and China).

It was the 12th meeting of the Joint Commission on JCPOA which began at 12:00 local time in Vienna.

Meantime. seven European countries–Austria. Belgium. Finland. the Netherlands. Slovenia. Spain and Sweden–in a joint statement expressed their support for the efforts for implementation of the INSTEX.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi underlined that Tehran`s strategic patience has worn out. and said that the country will not tolerate to unilaterally implement the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

`Remaining countries in the JCPOA failed to make up for the US exit from the deal. but Tehran showed strategic patience over the past year and provided sufficient opportunity for them. but it yielded nothing.` Araqchi said.

`We welcome political stances of European states and other remaining parties against the US withdrawal from the international accord. but the political stances should be translated into practical measures.` he added .

Trump’s administration has been leading a signature policy of “maximum pressure“ vis-à-vis Iran. The approach has seen Washington returning its sanctions on the Islamic Republic. ramping up its warlike rhetoric while engaging in dangerous regional military buildup.
