Iran Reducing Dependence on Foreign Suppliers for Strategic Gas Transfer Systems Under Sanctions

Managing Director of Iranian Gas Transmission Company (IGTC) Saeed Tavakkoli said the country`s experts have managed to join the few Western manufacturers of vibration monitoring and protection system for gas transmission.

`The know-how for the production of vibration monitoring and protection systems as a strategic and hi-tech product was just owned by a number of limited world entities. including Metrix. Vibro-Meter. Bentley Nevada. etc. companies.` Tavakkoli said on Saturday.

He added that the IGTC decided to design and manufacture the equipment and the system due to the wide need in the oil and gas industries and given the frequent problems on the way of its import from the foreign states.

Tavakkoli noted that the IGTC is now using domestic potentials to manufacture the vibration monitoring and protection systems.

According to the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC). based on the country`s macro policies to increase the share of natural gas in the energy mix of the country. Iran as the world`s third-largest gas producer in recent years has focused on increasing its share of the global gas market.

Since the 2000s. development of the South Pars gas field and its constant growth ever since. increase Iran`s Natural Gas production capacity.

Regarding the implementation of development plans for gas refinement. provided that all development plans come on-stream by the end of the Sixth Development Plan to 2021. the total NIGC gas refinery capacity would cross 1.200 million cubic meters per day.

Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Iran’s natural gas production capacity has increased from 89 bcm in 1979 to over 3.754 bcm in 2018.
