Tabriz. Iran`s Petchem Hub

Iran is considering to build major petrochemical projects in the nearby of the northwestern city of Tabriz in order to transform the region into a petrochemical heavyweight in the country and the region.
 
Speaking during a ceremony to break the ground for an ethylene pipeline project in Tabriz on Thursday. Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh expressed optimism that the region will turn into a hub of petrochemical industries in the future given its old civilization. 
The official said the pipeline project will cost IRR 300b which will be procured by private investors. 
“I am optimistic that Tabriz. as one of Iran’s civilization hubs. will become a key region in the petrochemical industry in the future. too.” said the official. 
Tabriz Petrochemical Complex is planned to build a new olefin unit in the future in order to enhance its output. said Zangeneh. 
The complex is currently supplying 350.000 tons of petrochemicals which will double once several development projects for production of ethylbenzene. styrene monomer. polystyrene and pentane 2 come online with feedstock supplied by the pipeline.
The pipeline is expected to come on-stream by March 2020. 
Stretching from Miandoab County. West Azerbaijan Province. the pipeline will deliver ethylene to Tabriz Petrochemical Complex.
Doubling the output of TPC’s ABS unit. boosting production of pentane. launching new SBR. SBS and PBR units at the complex are some of the targets of the pipeline’s construction.
