Iran has started construction of the first phase of pipeline project from Iranshahr to Chabahar port. which is close to Pakistan border. said the Governor of Iranshahr Nabi Nakhsh Davoudi.
The total length of 56-inch pipeline is 280 km. but the first phase of that with 32 km has already began. and it is expected to be completed in 6 months.
Last week. Iran inaugurated Iranshahr-Zahedan gas pipeline.
Iran has stretched the 907 km pipeline (IGAT-7) from South Pars gas field to Iranshar in Sistan and Baluchestan Province. but 200 km of is needed to reach the Pakistani border.
Pakistan should have imported 22 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d) of Iranian gas since January 2015 based on an agreement. but it hasn’t even decided to build a pipeline.
Now it seems Iran has focused to use IGAT-7 to supply domestic sector.
Iran is planning to connect its strategic port Chabahar with IGAT- 7.
Iran plans to construct power plants and petrochemical units in Chabahr. 80-km away Pakistan’s Gwadar port.
