Iran Inaugurates 55-MW Wind Farms in Qazvin Province

A 55-megawatt wind farm in the town of Takestan in Qazvin province inaugurated by Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian.
The official said MAPNA group of companies has invested over $92 million for the project. and the wind farm will be able to supply 15% of Iran’s electricity.
The Iranian energy minister said that the wind farm has 22 turbines for generating electricity.
According to the provincial officials. Qazvin has the capacity of launching 4.000 MW of electricity by taking advantage of renewable wind and solar energies.
In relevant remarks in early February. Chitchian said that the country`s economy ministry had approved multi-billion-dollar foreign investments in Iran`s renewable energies.
Applications for foreign investment in Iran`s renewable energies to the tune of three billion dollars have been approved by the Finance Ministry. Chitchian said.
He reiterated that foreigners have so far applied for investment to the tune of 1.500 megawatts of renewable energies in Iran which have been approved by the Finance Ministry.
Also in mid-October. Chitchian in a meeting with First Vice President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Premysl Sobotka in Tehran called for boosting cooperation between the two countries on renewable energies.
The record of cooperation between Iran and Czech Republic dates back to a long time ago and we are currently cooperating on the construction of Khoda-Afarin hydroelectric power plant in Northwestern Iran. Chitchian said.
Chitchian and Sobotka also discussed the capacities and capabilities of the two countries in the water and electricity sectors.
The Iranian energy minister welcomed participation of the Czech companies in financing or constructing waste-fuel power plants in Iran.
