Iran Opens Isotope Technology Labs

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi inaugurated isotope technologies labs complex in Arak, Markazi province in Western Iran.
“The research-production project was funded through the income of Arak Heavy Water Production Plant,” Salehi said addressing the inauguration ceremony on Saturday.
He expressed the hope that the products of the project would be mass-produced within 3 to 4 years.
Salehi also pointed to Iran’s national ion therapy and radiopharmaceutical center, and said that these scientific hubs should be considered as role-models.
In relevant remarks in April, Salehi has said that Iran was one of the radiopharmaceuticals exporters in the world.
“Iran is one of the exporters of pharmaceuticals in the world,” Salehi said, adding that it had exported pharmaceutical products to India, Lebanon, Iraq and some of the European countries.
“Whenever the name of AEOI is mentioned, everyone remembers enrichment,” he said and added, “However, our field of activity is wide and we have done extensive work in health, industry and agriculture.”
The official noted that a large part of the 133 nuclear achievements which were unveiled on Saturday include areas such as agriculture.”
“One of the tools needed for producing the coronavirus vaccine is a centrifuge, and the AEOI provided it to Barekat Company,” Salehi stated.
