Qatar to Host LNG2025

The LNG Events Series Steering Committee has announced that Qatar has been selected as the host country for LNG2025, the 21st International Conference and Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas.
Professor Joe M Kang, chair, LNG Events Series Steering Committee and president, International Gas Union (IGU), made the announcement marking the conclusion of a competitive process to decide the event’s 2025 host.
Prof Kang, representing the three owners of the event: the IGU, the Gas Technology Institute and the International Institute of Refrigeration, said: “Qatar’s key role in the future of the global LNG industry and the innovations it has proposed for LNG2025 made it an ideal host for the world’s premiere LNG industry event.”
This will be the second time this global LNG event takes place in Qatar. The first time was in 2004, when Doha hosted LNG 14.
HE the Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad Sherida al-Kaabi, also the President and CEO of Qatar Petroleum, said: “We are pleased to be awarded the hosting rights for this prestigious global event to convene at the home of the world’s largest LNG producer. LNG2025 will be held at the right time, in the right place.
“It will coincide with a number of relevant historic events for the LNG industry, including the start-up of the North Field LNG expansion project and the commissioning of one of the largest Carbon Capture and Storage schemes in the world, which will showcase to the world our strong commitment to the environment. LNG vessel deliveries under the largest LNG ship construction programme in history will also be well underway at that time.”
Held every three years, the International Conference and Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas is the industry’s most recognised LNG event, and is attended by thousands of delegates, speakers, exhibitors, trade visitors and other industry professionals.
The last edition, LNG2019, was held in Shanghai and the upcoming LNG2022 will be hosted in St Petersburg, Russia.
The bid to host LNG2025 highlighted Qatar’s position at the forefront of the LNG industry, and its state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure that would make this event a memorable and most productive one.
“Holding the event in Qatar highlights the positive role gas and LNG can play in meeting growing global energy needs while at the same time reducing CO2 emissions, by showcasing the industry’s innovation at the LNG capital of the world,” Qatar Petroleum said Wednesday.
