10 Iranian Products to Enjoy EAEU Tariff Removal

Head of the Iranian National Union of Agricultural Products Reza Nourani said the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has removed tariff rates for the import of 10 Iranian products.

The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in a letter sent to the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) said it has removed the import tariffs for 10 Iranian products, Reza Nourani said.

These products, subjected to import tariffs by the Union, include potatoe, onion, garlic, cabbage, carrot, pepper, fruit juice, wheat, black grains, long-grain rice and baby food, he added.

While the country is under sanctions and grappling with coronavirus outbreak, removing tariff rates for Iranian products by EAEU will increase export and production, the official noted.

Pointing to the required infrastructures, he said, Refrigerated containers should be provided to increase export. Unfortunately, we lack such containers for rail export and/or they should at least be purchased or rented by Russia and Turkey.

In a relevant event, Iran’s ambassador to Russia Kazzem Jalali and Minister of Commerce of the Eurasian Economic Union Andrey Slepnev in telephone conversation on Friday, April 10, urged boosting mutual cooperation between the two countries in the field of economy.

In the telephone conversation Slepnev said Eurasian Economic Union supports further cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce of Iran and the member states of the Union.

The union supports the Islamic Republic of Iran’s stance concerning the US irrational sanctions especially regarding the global battle against the coronavirus, he further added.

Iran’s ambassador to Russia, for his part, called for the country’s seriousness in implementing the provisions of the agreement between Iran and the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union.

He also urged the greater use of the capacities to develop trade between Iran and the union.

Iran and EEU are looking to substantially increase trade, as they signed a three-year provisional agreement in Astana, Kazakhstan, on May 17, 2018, for the bloc to welcome Iran into EEU.
