Iran and Germany have reached agreement to produce 50 diesel locomotives. said Minister of Roads and Urban Development. Abbas Akhundi.
He said the locomotives will be manufactured in MAPNA company of Iran in cooperation with German Siemens company.
He added that German Federal Minister`s visit to Iran is aimed at following up the already reached agreements for cooperation in various fields of transportation.
The Minister said there are 165 diesel locomotives in Iran now. 130 of which are operating in the railway network. while the rest are getting repaired.
He added that a number of the locomotives will be for future needs. however.
The two countries signed a MoU for development of transport cooperation in different airport. railway. maritime. and road sectors.
