German Finance Minister Stresses Expansion of Banking Ties with Iran

German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif underlined the necessity for the development of banking ties and cooperation with Tehran.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the annual meeting of European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) in Berlin on Monday.
Schäuble underscored implementation of 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and the world powers. and welcomed banking cooperation between Tehran and Berlin.
He said German banks are ready to upgrade cooperation with Iran.
Zarif arrived in Berlin on Monday morning.
He is to meet President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel later.
In relevant remarks in May. German Deputy Foreign Minister Markus Ederer in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Majid Takht Ravanchi in Tehran called for the expansion of all-out relations. specially in economic and trade fields.
`Berlin is determined to broaden and bolster economic relations with Tehran.” Ederer said. adding. `Germany will remain committed to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and will spare no efforts to comply with its implementation.`
The German deputy foreign minister said since the recent visit of German minister of economy and energy to Iran. a number of economic and business agreements have been signed between the two countries.
