Operations to construct three 50-megawatt wind power plants in Mil-Nader region in the underdeveloped Sistan-Baluchestan Province in southern Iran commenced on Sunday. the head of the provincial department for attracting investment in Sistan-Baluchestan said.
`The renewable venture. worth $330 million. will be completed with the help of a South Korean firm in two years.` Mandana Zanganeh was also quoted as saying by IRNA on Sunday without naming the firm.
Pointing to three identified regions for the development of renewable energy projects. Zanganeh said. `Mil-Nader and Ramshar zones are attractive for investment in wind turbines. while Garaqeh is suitable for solar power production.`
She also noted that the geographical data of the three regions has been sent to the Renewable Energy Organization of Iran to raise funds through the country’s top state-owned organization for renewable energies.
“All areas in Sistan-Baluchestan Province are suitable for producing solar energy. with the northern areas particularly suitable for creating large wind farms.“ the official said. Reportedly. the share of renewables in Iran’s energy mix is 240 megawatts.
