Iranian First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri on Monday lauded the government achievements in the oil and gas sectors.
Iran has made good achievements in recovering oil and gas from the joint fields. Jahangiri said.
He said that in a certain period of time. Iran was lagging behind in development of joint fields with Iraq in West Karoun region. but at the present time. good development projects are executed in the region.
The official urged the use of all the country`s capacities. in particular the private sector. to reach the target of recovering 1.2 million barrels of oil per day.
He called for using Enhanced Oil Recovery methods to increase the oil revenues.
Jahangiri expressed the hope that with the development of joint oilfields in West Karoun. Iran`s oil recovery from the region would increase to 320.000 barrels per day.
The oilfields in West Karoun are Yadavaran. North Azadegan. South Azadegan. North Yaran. and South Yaran. The biggest among all are South Azadegan and Yadavaran which are shared with Iraq’s Majnoon and Sinbad fields. respectively. Iran awarded Yadavaran to Sinopec in 2007 and South Azadegan to CNPC in 2009.
