IAEA Confirms Nuclear Cooperation with Iran Productive

Director of the International nuclear watchdog`s Division for Asia and the Pacific described cooperation with Iran as long-lasting. extensive and productive.

`The technical cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is rooted in the past and it is going on at present too.` Najat Mokhtar said in a Seminar on Iran-China Civil Nuclear Cooperation under the JCPOA in Beijing.

The cooperation has been on technical issues. food security. water resources management. cancer treatment and many other areas. he said. adding that Iran has gained technical achievements and privileges over the past decade.

Mokhtar explained that IAEA cooperation with the developing countries on medicine. healthcare and growth are considered as important fields of cooperation.

He also noted that nuclear technology is of use for the environment and natural resources management. including water. and the countries that have the technology can benefit from it in the aforementioned fields.

`Creating a database for water resources management. using nuclear energy and technology in the agriculture sector. and addressing nuclear security and managing nuclear wastes in Bushehr are among Iran`s achievements.` the official said.

According to the agency`s reports. Iran has remained committed to the nuclear agreement it signed with the major world powers in 2015. he said. adding that the IAEA will continue its cooperation with the member-states to reach the sustainable development through using peaceful nuclear energy.

The Nuclear seminar. attended by a number of senior Iranian officials. representatives of China and the IAEA was held in Beijing on Wednesday.
