Innovation Help Qatar Firms to Overcome Blockade

Minister of Energy and Industry. H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada. said all energy and industry companies operating in Qatar have demonstrated considerable flexibility and ability to adapt their efforts to overcome the effects of the siege that. he added. did not weaken their operations but rather strengthened their innovation.

During the 18th annual meeting for the Qatarization of energy and industry sector companies. he highlighted the importance of focusing on technical capacity development. including vocational education. as they form the backbone of the sector.

“This has not weakened our businesses. but has rather enhanced its innovative capabilities.“ said the Minister. He called on companies to be more innovative in their efforts to attract. develop and benefit from experienced Qataris who enjoy qualification and technical training.

Qatar Petroleum President and CEO Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi attended the meeting along with a number of senior executives and representatives from 35 companies participating in the Qatarization strategic plan for the energy and industry sector. in addition to a number of senior officials from educational institutions in Qatar.

At the end of the meeting. the Minister and Eng. Al Kaabi awarded the winners of the 10th Qatarization awards for the companies in the sector that have shown excellence in Qatarization in 2017.

The crystal award was awarded to Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) for its efforts. support and communication with the education sector. Occidental Petroleum was also given the award for its efforts in supporting Qatarization.

The crystal award was also handed to Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat) for its efforts in supporting training and development. while Qatar Chemical Company (Q-Chem) was given the crystal award for the best progress made in Qatarization.

Annual Qatarization certificates were given to Qatar Steel for its efforts in supporting and communicating with the education sector. Qatar Shell GTL for supporting Qatarization and Qatar Fertilizer Company (QAFCO) for its support in the field of training and development.
