Shell companies Chairman in India Nitin Prasad said the company plans to open 1.200 retail stations across India in the next 10 years.
The energy giant did not give a definitive time frame as to how many outlets it will open every year as the process of getting a licence for a petrol station is time consuming. However. Prasad said that Shell India has acquired land for 150-200 sites across the country and operates around 120 retail outlets.
This development comes in the backdrop of recent statements made by Shell senior executives who are readying the ground on the assumption that if India continues to prosper. it will be the fastest growing energy market in the world by 2030s.
«These retail stations will in all likelihood offer mosaic of solutions. not only relating to oil and gas. but also pertaining to electric. biofuels. LNG and may be hydrogen. in single retail station.» Prasad added.
