Germany ranks fifth in Bloomberg`s 2018 global renewable investment report. China remains the leader with total investments of 100.1 billion dollars. followed by the US (64.2 billion). Japan (27.2 billion). India (11.1 billion). and Germany (10.5 billion). Global nominal renewable investments fell 8 percent to 332.1 billion dollars. mainly due to policy changes in China and the falling cost of renewables. particularly solar. Overall solar investment dropped 24 percent in monetary terms. but a sharp decline in capital costs meant global PV installations actually increased from 99 gigawatts (GW) in 2017 to 109 GW in 2018. New wind capacity was also up slightly last year.
