Iranian President`s Chief of Staff Mahmoud Vaezi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. in a meeting in Ankara. exchanged views on increasing the volume of trade between the two countries. and underlined the importance of multilateral cooperation to maintain peace in West Asia.
During the meeting on Friday. Vaezi and Erdogan discussed the ways for boosting collaboration in all areas of mutual interest.
The top officials highlighted the need for efforts to help promote trade relations to the levels set by the two countries` presidents and also conferred on holding a joint cooperation commission in September.
The latest regional developments and the need to maintain multilateral cooperation to strengthen the stability and security of the West Asian region were also discussed during the meeting.
Holding next round of Astana Summit in Turkey with the Iranian. Russian and Turkish presidents in attendance in the near future and holding meeting of the two countries joint cooperation council in September were among other issues discussed during the meeting.
During the meeting. Vaezi also conveyed warm greeting of President Hassan Rouhani to the Turkish government and nation. stressing that Tehran welcomes enhancing cooperation with Ankara in all areas.
Heading a high-level politico-economic delegation. Vaezi made a one-day visit to Ankara on Friday to meet with Erdogan and several other senior Turkish officials.
Earlier on the day. Vaezi held separate talks with Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez and Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak Berat Albayrak to review the conditions of making the upcoming joint commission more efficient.
Late in June. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu visited Iranian central city of Isfahan where he met with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.
Zarif told his Turkish counterpart that that Iran is ready to significantly increase the volume of trade with Turkey.
Calling Cavusoglu’s visit to Iran significant for planning mutual strategic ties besides having joint political negotiation documents. Zarif said that Iran is ready to expand the volume of its bilateral trade with Turkey. as well as banking. energy. and tourism relations.
Zarif announced Iran’s readiness for increasing the volume of bilateral trade with Turkey.
The two ministers who held a meeting in Isfahan on Friday morning. also discussed regional and international issues in particular those related to Syria and Yemen in addition to the recent incidents in the Persian Gulf.
Following their bilateral talks. Zarif and Cavusoglu signed a document to enhance mutual strategic partnership between Tehran and Ankara.
During the meeting. the Turkish foreign minister said Ankara is ready to deepen and strengthen mutual ties with Iran in various political. economic and cultural areas.
Earlier in June. Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani met on the sidelines of the 5th Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Tajikistan.
During the meeting in the Tajik capital city of Dushanbe. the two presidents voiced their countries` strong opposition to unilateralism and sanctions against the regional nations.
Rouhain and Erdogan. in their meeting on June 15. called for more efforts for increasing the volume of trade between the two countries to the agreed level.
Rouhani highlighted that Tehran is eager to bolster bilateral relations with Turkey in all areas. particularly in the spheres of economy and trade.
“Many worthy steps have been taken in the past couple of years for boosting bilateral ties between Tehran and Ankara. and this trend must be accelerated.“ the Iranian head of state said.
Rouhani further underlined Iran-Turkey regional cooperation. and stressed that the two countries` cooperation as well as trilateral cooperation with Russia on regional issues. including the Astana talks and reconstruction of Syria is of paramount importance and reinvigorates peace and stability in the region.
Erdoğan. for his part. lauded the expanding relations between Iran and Turkey. adding that strengthening the two countries` ties on bilateral and regional scenes is of prime importance for Ankara.
`Turkey is resolved to expand ties with Iran in all areas.` he reiterated.
Both presidents further underlined their strong opposition to sanctions and bullying in the region.
