Petchem Industry at Forefront of Non-Oil Export Earnings

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the country’s petrochemical industry was at the forefront of generating revenues from non-oil exports.

Speaking a meeting with petrochemical industrialists to mark the Petrochemical Industry Day in Tehran on Monday. Dr. Rouhani said the sector was going through a leap given its rapid growth.

He said the country eyes 100 mt y of petrochemical output by 2021 which would happen after the second leap in the industry.

Iran’s current petrochemical production capacity is roughly at 65 mt y.

Rouhani said that the sector’s petrochemical revenues would also reach $37b by 2025 from currently $17b.
