Iran. Italy Ink Contract to Build Solar Power Plant

A contract to build a solar power plant was signed between the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO) and Italian Carlo Mascar Company here on Saturday afternoon.

The solar power plant with capacity of 100 megawatts is going to be built in Garmsar Economic Special Zone.

The region is located 90 kilometers east of Tehran.

Deputy Energy Minister and Head of Renewable Energy Organization Mohammad Sadeqzadeh said renewable energies are among the cheapest types of energy. adding that the finished cost for one kilowatt hour of solar electricity is four cents. which is to be reduced in year 2020 to three cents and then to 2 cents and less.

He said that Iran has more than 300 sunny days in a year. while it has good capacity in wind energy as well.
