SPGC Eyes Rising Butane Output from SP Phases 17, 18

The director of the 7th South Pars Refinery said the facility’s butane output was planned to increase dramatically in the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 20.

According to the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Hassan As’adi said phases 17 and 18 of South Pars were among the phases that had been launched and delivered to the South Pars Gas Complex in recent years, and had experienced an upward trend in production.

He said recovery of value-added items like ethane, propane and butane besides successful overhaul operations were among the refinery’s major achievements during the previous calendar year.

The director of the seventh refinery of South Pars further stated that last calendar year the propane output of the plant rose by 71%, adding the refinery had also doubled its butane production from phases 17 and 18.

As’adi said: This year, with the implementation of projects and the launch of export compressors, we will see significant growth in gas and ethane production in phases 17 and 18.
