Iran is ready to continue consultations with Italy on regional issues.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi rebuked the unilateral measures of the US regarding the 2015 nuclear deal. saying all parties to the pact consider Washington as the root cause of the tensions on the matter.

The meeting was held following the 14th JCPOA joint commission meeting in Vienna.

The new head of the UN nuclear watchdog said he is expected to hold talks with Iranian officials who will be in Vienna later this week for a meeting of the remaining JCPOA parties.

Grossi is the first Latin American to take over the role of IAEA director general since the agency was established in 1957.

Iran waited for more than a year after the US pullout. but the path to dialog and diplomacy still remains open.

The election of the IAEA new chief was held after the death of former IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano in July 2019.

Iran has sent a written objection to the IAEA in that regard and announced the country will follow up on the issue.

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said there is evidence that an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspector who was recently prevented from entering an Iranian nuclear site was carrying suspicious material.

The inspection is being carried out within the framework of the international agency’s Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement with Ukraine.
