Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs lashed out at the recent move taken by EU3 to activate trigger mechanism in Iran nuclear deal.

Referring to the dispute resolution mechanism which was activated by France. Britain. and Germany. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said.

A new decision by France. Britain and Germany to trigger the dispute mechanism in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is nothing new as Iran employed the process more than a year ago.

Referring to the dispute resolution mechanism. EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell said that the preservation of the JCPOA is now more important than ever.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov expressed concerns over the decision of the European signatories to the JCPOA to trigger dispute mechanism.

The meeting comes as Iran took its fifth step of reducing commitments to the JCPOA on January 5.

In reaction to a recent joint statement by Germany. France. UK urging Iran to stay in the nuclear deal. a board member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament.

France. Britain. and Germany confirmed on Tuesday that they had triggered the dispute mechanism in the Iran nuclear deal.

The leaders also reaffirmed their opposition to the US decision to pull out of the nuclear deal.

Germany. France. UK – have urged Iran not to walk away from the agreement that has been practically rendered ineffective after the US’ pullout in 2018.
