Iran will Boost Joint Oilfield Output

Managing Director of Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) Mohammad Meshkinfam underlined that his company is planning to considerably increase Iran`s recovery of joint oilfield with Qatar in the coming month.
Iran’s recovery from South Pars joint gas field will equal that of Qatar in a month’s time by realizing a total output of 570 million cubic meters. Meshkinfam said on Monday.
He said that the daily gas production from the field has reached 480 million cubic meters while the figure will climb to nearly 540 million cubic meters with operation of two previously-damaged subsea pipelines in coming days.
Furthermore. gas production at phases 19. 20 and 21 will reach full capacity by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (to end March 20).” Meshkinfam said.
In relevant remarks earlier in February. a senior Iranian energy official said that the country is likely to recover as much as from the supergiant South Pars Gas Field as Qatar by the end of the current year.
Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Ali Kardor told a press conference that Iran`s production of natural gas from the gas field will reach that of Qatar. adding development projects at West Karoon oilfields are going on in a satisfactory fashion.
Iran`s total natural gas output has reached 840 mcm d from 490mcm d in 2013.
Iran`s production of natural gas from the supergiant South Pars Gas Field. which Iran shares with Qatar in Persian Gulf waters. stands at 480 mcm d.
The official said talks are still going on for developing Farzad B gas field. adding technical negotiations are over with Indian developers but there are still a number of issues to be ironed out with regards to the project`s sinews.
The gas produced from the field will be used for LNG and petrochemical projects but because of the high sulfur content of recovered gas. it might be a costly project. he said. adding because it is a joint gas field. it development it highly importation for the NIOC.
In case we do not reach an agreement with Indian developers. we will try other alternatives like developing the project under in an EPCF package. he added.
The project may be divided into several smaller projects in an EPCF framework.
