Iranian and Austrian officials in a meeting in Vienna signed several agreements to further expand their bilateral ties in scientific and technological fields.
Five cooperation pacts were signed by Iranian Vice-President Sorena Sattari and Austrian officials in Vienna on Wednesday.
The signed agreements covered cooperation in oil and modern energy fields.
Sattari is slated to meet with a group of Austrians active in the area of knowledge-based economy during his stay in Vienna.
The Iranian vice-president will also hold meetings with the elites and Iranians residing in Austria.
Sattari’s visit to Austria took place in line with a five-year (2016-2021) roadmap for cooperation in technology that has been drawn by Tehran and Vienna.
In relevant remarks in late October. Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Austrian Parliament Vice-Speaker Karlheinz Kopf in a meeting in Tehran underlined the need for broadening of mutual cooperation. specially in economic and trade fields.
During the meeting in the Iranian capital. Larijani and Kopf explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating bilateral ties.
Larijani said that development of parliamentary relations will play an important role to expand mutual cooperation.
The Iranian parliament speaker voiced deep concern about the deterioration of humanitarian situation in the Middle East. and said. Iran has always underlined the importance of dialogue and political negotiations as the only way to resolve the humanitarian crises. instead of resorting to the military option.
Kopf. for his part. pointed to the status quo of Iran-Austria relations. and said. Iran is an important country in the region and the world.
The parliamentary relations between the two countries` lawmakers will pave the way for the development of cooperation in other sectors. the Austrian parliament vice-speaker said.
