Iraq Inks Oilfield Development Contract with Baker Hughes

Iraq’s Oil Minister Jabar Ali al-Luaibi signed on Monday a contract with Baker Hughes. a General Electric company. for a fast track flare gas solution for the al-Nassiriya and al Gharraf Oilfields. south of Baghdad.
Under the contract. Baker Hughes will develop advanced solutions for flare gas at the al-Nassiriya and al-Gharraf oilfields. using modular gas processing technology developed in United States. The project is expected to be executed in two phases.
In the first phase. the advanced modular gas processing solution will be deployed to dehydrate and compress flare gas to generate over 100 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas. Baker Hughes said in a statement.
While in the second phase while include the accomplishment of the al-Nassiriya plant with a capacity of 200 MMSCFD.
“The project will contribute to stop burning the gas in al-Nasiriya and al-Gharraf fields and provide the liquid gas in order to use it as a fuel for the power stations and reduce the use of the heavy fuel which can improve the efficiency of power generation and save the environment.“ Al Luaibi said in a statement.
“The project will produce hundreds thousands tons of the liquid gas each year as liquefied petroleum gas and condensed gas. and also export the surplus to the global market which will elevate the average of incomes to the budget.“ he added.
The minister also stressed that the project will provide many different jobs for the citizens of Dhi-Qar governorate.
