Long Term Solar Energy Storage System in Qazvin

Iran has unveiled a long-term solar energy storage system in the Science and Technology Park of Qazvin.
The storage system uses physical and chemical reactions to reserve solar steam. IRNA reported.
Because of the long hours of sunshine in summer. solar rays help raise 300-degree steam in the reactor for use in winter.
The system can be used in residential units. workplaces and greenhouses by setting the temperature and humidity.
Head of Qazvin Science and Technology Park. Yousef Gorgy. said the limitation of fossil fuels and oil resources. and the rise in energy consumption are the main reasons for using new and renewable energies in the country.
The solar energy storage system is a welcome move in the energy market that has traditionally relied on fossil fuels for power generation.
Government data show the share of renewables in Iran’s energy basket is 240 megawatts at present. which is less than 1% of total installed power generation capacity of 77.000 MW.
Plans are in place to launch 5.000 MW in new renewable capacity. including solar and wind. by 2022.
