IAEA Confirms Iran’s Compliance with JCPOA Again

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Monday confirmed once again that Iran has been honoring its commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
“My report on Verification and monitoring in the Islamic Republic of Iran in light of United Nations Security Council resolution 2231 (2015) covers the verification and monitoring activities that the Agency has conducted in the last few months.“ IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano said in an introductory statement to the Board of Governors in Vienna on Monday.
He added that the agency has been verifying and monitoring the implementation by Iran of its nuclear-related commitments under the nuclear agreement since JCPOA Implementation Day in January 2016.
“We fulfill this role in accordance with the modalities set out in the JCPOA. consistent with the Agency’s standard safeguards practices. and in an impartial and objective manner.“
Amano further said. “The nuclear-related commitments undertaken by Iran under the JCPOA are being implemented. The Agency continues to verify the non-diversion of nuclear material declared by Iran under its Safeguards Agreement. Evaluations regarding the absence of undeclared nuclear material and activities in Iran remain ongoing.“
“We will continue to implement the Additional Protocol in Iran. including carrying out complementary accesses to sites and other locations. as we do in other countries with additional protocols.“
