Tehran. Moscow Review Joint Energy Projects

Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian and his Russian counterpart Alexander Novak in a telephone dialogue on Monday. discussed the implementation of priority investment projects in the framework of bilateral cooperation.

The ministers. as the co-chairmen of the Russian-Iranian permanent intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation. also discussed preparations for the 15th session of the commission that was scheduled to take place from June 16-18.

According to Novak. 10 working groups are operating in the framework of the intergovernmental commission. including groups for the fields of transport. finance and energy.

Moreover. 50 joint documents have been signed in recent years in order to create a solid legal and regulatory basis for bilateral cooperation.

Early in April. Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh left Tehran for Moscow to discuss energy-related issues with his Russian counterpart Alexander Novak.

Iran has the highest number of oil deals with Russia for the development of its oil and gas fields.

In a relevant development in February. Ardakanian. in a phone conversation with Novak. conferred on the further development of ties and cooperation between the two countries. specially in the field of economy.

Ardakanian and Novak stressed continued Iran-Russia cooperation on the international level.

Further cooperation in the fields of energy. industry. transit and agriculture were discussed during the phone conversation between Iranian and Russian energy ministers.

The ministers also conferred on the joint projects. including the Sirik thermal power plant in Iran and the electrification of the Garmsar-Incheboron railway section.
