Iran’s Non-Oil Exports to Central Asia Doubled in 3 Months

Iran`s export from the rail port of Sarakhs doubled in the three-month span between March 21 and June 21. Head of Railways of Khorasan Razavi Province Mostafa Nasiri announced on Sunday.

The cargo exported from Sarakhs reached 317 tons. he said.

Nasiri added that Khorasan Razavi province has the first rank in exports through railway in the country with about 77% of the share of rail exports of Iran.

He also added that the infrastructure of the province`s Shahid Motahhari Station has improved in a way that the capacity to load and unload the cargo has reached from 50 to 250 simultaneous cars.

He added that cement makes up 81% of the exports from Sarakhs topping all other commodities.

Nasiri said that Uzbekistan stands first with 84% of import from Iran through Sarakhs. Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan stand second and third.

He added that Railway exchange of Iran takes place through two border points in Sarakhs and Incheburon in Golestan province.

Nasiri also said that the export and import through Sarakhs railways reached more than two million tons in the past Iranian year (starting March 20. 2018) and the goods transited through the cities railways reached 1.274 million tons. setting a new record.

Last Sunday. it was announced that three-month records of non-oil exports from Iran’s Southeastern port city of Chabahar showed a 100 percent year-on-year increase during the period between March 21 and June 21. 2019. which displayed the country’s success in adopting economic policies capable of countering US’ unilateral sanctions.

Non-oil exports from Chabahar Port increased by 100 percent in the first three months of the current year (March 21 – June 21). showing a significant 100 percent growth compared to the last year’s corresponding period.

The Director General of Sistan and Baluchistan Ports and Maritime Organization Behrouz Aqayee said. Loading and unloading goods increased considerably after the inauguration of first phase of Shahid Rajaei Port of Chabahar. The loading and unloading operations of various types of oil- and non-oil products in Chabahar Port registered a 37 percent growth since the beginning of this year as compared to the same period last year.

He further noted that loading and unloading operation of oil products in this period increased by 69 percent while the export of non-oil products showed a considerable 100 percent hike as compared to the last year’s corresponding period.

The director general of provincial Ports and Maritime Organization added that the number of inbound vessels. above 100.000 tons. has experienced a 29 percent hike in the first three months of the current year as compared to the same period of last year.
