Iran will Export $100mln Nano Products this Year

Head of Iran’s Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) Saeed Sarkar said that his country is further developing its nano-technology industries. reassuring that Tehran will export more than $100 million worth of nano products in the current year.

Speaking on Saturday. Sarkar revealed plans for the exports of $100 million worth of nanotechnology enhanced products this year. adding that Iran has plans to increase the value of the country’s exports of nanotechnology enhanced products to $1 billion by 2025.

“Currently. there are over 580 nano products in the Iranian market. and 250 products will hopefully be made available in the market this year.“ he added.

The INIC head maintained that with proper support. the Council could increase the worth of its nanotechnology enhanced products to $1 billion by 2025.

He said 15 industrial sectors in Iran currently use nanotechnology. adding that Iranian nano products have so far been exported to many countries. such as South Korea. Australia. China. Indonesia. Russia. Turkey. Malaysia. Canada. as well as European. African and Latin American countries.

According to him. $62 million worth of nano products were exported to these countries last year.

Last month. it was announced that an Iranian company. Banian Azar Novin Ideal Co.. exported as many as 70 tons of nano-enhanced towels in 2018 to neighboring countries. including Georgia. Iraq. and Azerbaijan.

Banian Azar Novin Ideal is one of the most successful nano-textile producers in Iran. This company exported 70 tons of nano enhanced towels to various neighboring countries in 2018 valued at $600.000. according to Iran Nanotechnology Innovation Council (INIC).

Back in May. Sarkar announced that some 250 nanotechnology products developed by Iranian researchers and scientists will hit the domestic market in the current Persian year (to end on March 20. 2020).

According to him. Iran’s expertise on nanotechnology has reached to over 15 industrial sectors.

Iranian nanotechnology products have been exported to over 45 countries. he said. naming some of these countries as South Korea. Australia. China. Indonesia. Russia. Turkey. Malaysia. Canada. as well countries in Europe. Latin America. and Africa.

Last year. Iran’s revenues from nano exports stood at $62 million. the INIC head said. adding that the Council has plans to increase the value of its exports this year.

It was announced in mid-February that Iranian scientific centers and technology firms had registered 68% more patents at European and American patent offices in 2018. compared with the year before.

There has been a significant growth in the number of registered patents by Iran in the nanotechnology area. Iran Nanotechnology Innovation Council (INIC) reports. according to the Statnano portal.

13.050 patents were registered in the Europe (EPTO) and US (USPTO) patent offices in 2018. The number of registered patents in 2018 is 68% higher than in 2017. This number puts Iran in the 21st place in the global ranking of countries with most nanotechnology patents.

Iran is followed by Luxembourg. Denmark. Turkey. and Austria in the global ranking.
