Iran will Stop Flaring in Western Oilfields

The construction of units to collect associated gas from west Iranian oil drilling sites is being designed and the project will moderate the need for flaring in four oil fields within three years. said Managing Director of Oil Industries Engineering and Construction Company (OIEC) Behzad Mohammadi.
He said NGL-3100 plant. as another significant project in NGL industry. is being designed and constructed by OIEC near the oil production unit of Cheshmeh khosh. a town in Ilam Province.
“The project is defined to reach the optimal recovery of C2+ product from the associated gases of North Dezful oil fields that at present are being burnt causing both pollution and noticeable losses of gas revenues.” noted the official highlighting that the construction phase was 9% through.
He maintained that about 1.55 billion dollars of investment had been made in the NGL project. “the plan is estimated to become accomplished and come on stream within 36 months.”
“NGL-3100 will receive 270 million cubic feet of associated gas per day.” stated Mohammadi underlining that “upon implementation. the unit will produce 1.170 barrels of sour gas condensate. 74 million cubic feet of sweet gas. 105 million cubic feet of light sour gas as well as 42 thousand barrels of ethane on a daily basis to supply feedstock to petrochemical complexes.
The output of the new plant will be produced from associated gas. also known as flare gas or associated petroleum gas. which is a form of natural gas that is commonly found associated with deposits of petroleum.
Whether in industrial plants or at oil and gas production sites. flaring constitutes a hazard to human health and also significantly contributes to the worldwide anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide.
Associated gas could benefit the country. but most of it is flared. causing massive losses for the nation.
