Italian Investors Discuss Solar Energy Project in Iran

A group of Italian investors has voiced interest in financing renewable projects in southern Hormozgan Province following a visit this week to the site of a solar farm in the port city of Bandar Abbas. An official from the Italian delegation reportedly told IRNA that Italy is ready for economic collaboration in Iran’s fast-emerging renewable industry with the help of domestic human resources.
“Italy welcomes Iran’s proposal for cooperation on building solar and wind farms. I hope an agreement will be reached in the near future after further talks.” the unnamed official was quoted as saying.
Stressing on developing joint ventures with Iranian firms. he added. “We intend to start with building small 25 MW power plants and gradually move to bigger projects. Technology transfer can be a part of our deals.”
Masoud Pakzad. the head of Hormozgan provincial department for investment affairs. said. “We are interested in cooperation with Italian investors on developing renewable infrastructure in the province.”
Pakzad underlined Hormozgan as an attractive place for investment because of its access to international waters as well as two free trade zones and five special economic zones in the province.
