Elections. Symbol of Iran`s Power

Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said elections is a token of Iran`s authority and a message of honor. freedom and power of the country to the world.

 
The minister expressed the remarks while casting his vote in the 12th presidential and the 5th city and village council`s elections.
 
`Iran has the truest democracy in the region which is Imam Khomeini’s achievement. political development and democracy are not gained overnight and Iranians have been struggling for those for a hundred years.` said Zangeneh.
 
He added. “Islamic Republic was created on the basis of democracy which should be appreciated.”
Voting started in Iran at 8am local time (03:30 GMT) on Friday for the 12th presidential and the fifth city and village councils elections in about 63.500 polling stations. 
For the presidential competition. the candidates are incumbent President Hassan Rouhani. Ebrahim Raeisi. Mostafa Aqa-Mirsalim. and Mostafa Hashemi Taba. 
According to the Interior Ministry. over 56 million Iranians are eligible to vote in today`s elections.
