Tehran will host in 2020 the `International Gas Union Research Conference`. a major international gathering in the natural gas industry focused on research. development and innovation.
Following the IGRC 2017 event in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro that ended on May 26. Tehran was elected as the next host of the conference which is held every three years. the Oil Ministry news portal Shana reprobated. Copenhagen hosted the conference in 2014.
`Natural Gas: Catalyzing the Future` was the theme of the meeting in Brazil in which participants explored technological trends and developments in the key industry.
The event was organized by IBP. Brazilian Petroleum. Gas and Biofuels Institute. and sponsored by the National Iranian Gas Company. among others.
The International Gas Union was founded in 1931 in Switzerland. IGU`s mission is to advocate gas as an integral part of a sustainable global energy system and promote the political. technical and economic progress of the gas industry.
More than 140 members of IGU are associations and corporations representing over 95% of the global gas market.
Iran`s landmark nuclear agreement with world powers in 2015 and the subsequent lifting of international sanctions the following year put the country`s gas industry on the global gas map.
Tehran hosted the Third Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Summit in November 2015 in what was perceived as a strong statement of its intention to again become a key player in the global energy market.
That event brought together the heads of state and governments from nine countries. including Russia. Bolivia. Iraq. Turkmenistan. Equatorial Guinea. Nigeria and Venezuela.
