Iran. Turkey will Increase Gas Exports

The Iranian officials are in talks with Turkey`s Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAS) to increase gas supplies to the neighboring country.
Informed sources said that new talks are being held to boost Iran`s gas exports to Turkey.
At present. 10bcm of gas. 25mcm of which from Bazargan border. is exported from Iran to Turkey.
The two sides have agreed to open new routes. including Sarv and Razi borders. as new paths to export Iran`s gas to Turkey.
Mapping and routing jobs for implementation of the pipeline project in the Turkish territories are now underway and the plans to export gas to Turkey from two other borders have also been provided to Ankara.
In 1996. Iran and Turkey signed a contract valid for export of up to 10bcm of gas annually for a 25-years period by pumping 30 mcm gas per day.
In late June. Iranian Ambassador to Ankara Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian Fard described Tehran and Ankara`s economies as complementary. and stressed the need for the further consolidation of ties and cooperation.
Capacities of Iran and Turkey`s economies are complementary and we hope that synergy and using the two countries` scientific and economic capabilities will lead to development and assistance to other Islamic countries. Taherian Fard said in a meeting with Secretary-General of Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) Mehmet Metin in Ankara.
