Managing Director of Iran`s Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) says oil production capacity in Iran-Iraq west Karoun joint oilfields currently stands at 300.000 barrels per day and it is expected to reach 350.000 barrels by March 21.
Noureddin Shahnazizadeh added that development of joint oilfields in west Karoun. which are among Iran’s biggest oil reserves. was pursued immediately after the 11th government came to office.
Petroleum Ministry prioritized development of west Karoun oilfields (including South Azadegan. North Azadegan. Yadavaran. South Yaran and North Yaran) which are shared with Iraq and developed them along with South Pars Gas Field.
As a result of these measures. production of all west Karoun oilfields which was 70.000 barrels a day reached over 300.000 barrels.
Currently. some 300.000 barrels of oil are extracted from these joint oilfields and efforts are underway to increase their production. he said.
