Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said his administration is set to render full support to the production of Iranian goods in the Iranian new year in a bid to improve the country`s national economy and employment rate.
Addressing the nation from the Western province of Kermanshah which was shaken up by a 7.3-magnitude quake few months ago. President Rouhani felicitated Iranians and other Nowruz-celebrating nations on the advent of the new solar calendar year 1397. and appreciated the country`s success in various arenas in the last year.
“Last year was the year of victory and success of the Iranian nation. especially during the elections.` Rouhani said. and added. “The unity among the Iranian nation has surprised all enemies and they admitted to the greatness of our people“ in the last year.
The president further noted the naming of the Iranian new year by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei as the year of `Support for Iranian Products`. and said. “As the Supreme Leader said. the new year is the year of national production. supporting Iranian goods and the year of employment and progress.“
Congratulating the new year to the families of the martyrs and veterans. the President said. “We must remember those who have chosen to serve the people instead of sitting at home. doctors. nurses. pilots. drivers. border guards. the police and all those who are at the oil wells. emergency control rooms. ambulance drivers. firefighters and all those on roads to serve the people.“
He said the nation was the true winner of the presidential election in the country in Spring. “At a time when tragic incidents struck the country. the great Iranian nation displayed another victory to the world.“
“When our people saw unrest on the streets and felt that the security of their society was in danger. they came onto the stage and announced it clearly that criticism and protest are people’s right but they would not tolerate violence and unlawfulness.“ continued Rouhani.
He also said that the enemies wanted to misuse the riots to break the Iranian nation. “but the unity of the Iranian nation surprised them and they admitted the greatness of this nations“.
“Our great nation that has been a promoter of peace in the region could bring about more security and stability to the region by standing by the people of Iraq. Syria and Lebanon through the attempts of their devoted soldiers and hard-working diplomats.“ said the president.
Saying that during the last year. great steps have been taken in various fields such as agriculture. Rouhani added. “Although we had shortage of water. our farmers achieved self-sufficiency in wheat production and will do the same in the new year.“
“Our engineers and workers. and those who have been working in the railway projects in different provinces throughout the country. connected Hamedan and Kermanshah to the nationwide railway network and will do the same for three other provinces as well.“ added the President who arrived in Kermanshah on Tuesday to inaugurate the rail line.
He also went on to call on the great Iranian nation to help in the advancement of the country. saying. “Although there are still many problems left. we have time to compensate for the past shortcomings.“
Stressing the importance of employment. he said. “Last year. our employment rate was unparalleled in the history of our country. and in the new year. we must mark a higher rate.“
On fighting absolute poverty. President Rouhani said. “The 12th Government will continue to fight poverty. For all occupations. employees and workers we have worked towards balancing the minimum wages and will continue this program.“
Making a request from the great Iranian nation. he said: “The new year is the year of investment and production. We must all attempt to increase production. Our power will be alongside our production and it is our entrepreneurs who can take significant steps in the new year.“
“My next request is from our dear young generation. whom the future of the country belongs to. to continue working on the path of making the country proud. What is important for all of us is the pride of Islam and Iran. and the welfare of the Iranian nation.“ the President added.
He further renewed his election pledges and stressed once again that his administration is still loyal to his election slogans and is chasing every opportunity to undertake what he has promised. “The government is committed to the employment. vitality and freedom for the young generation. and their continued access to information.“
“Of course. we need a secure. easy and inexpensive cyberspace with (full respect to) morality and spirituality.“ he said. adding that people will witness more transparency in the new year.
At the end of this address. President Rouhani prayed for blessings. morality. tolerance. unity and integrity for the Iranian nation as well as progress and development for the country.
Prior to President Rouhani. the Iranian Supreme leader also stressed in his message the Iran will focus on a major stride in promoting Iran-made products in the new Persian year.
Ayatollah Khamenei named the Iranian New Year as the year of `Support for Iranian Products` to ask both the nation and the state officials to make industrious efforts to promote domestic production.
In a televised address to felicitate the nation on the advent of the New Persian Year. the leader said improvement of domestic production would be the cornerstone of a better national economy that could lower the rate of unemployment and reduce social vulnerabilities.
