Iran. Uzbekistan Ready to Start Direct Flights Soon

Talks are underway to launch direct flights between Iran and Uzbekistan. President of Iran Chamber of Commerce. Industries. Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Gholam Hossein Shafeyee in a meeting with Uzbek Ambassador to Iran Bahador Abullayev in Tehran on Sunday.  

ICCIMA`s President called the Uzbek ambassador to Iran to facilitate launching of direct flights between Tehran and Tashkent as the Iranian side is ready to do so.      

ICCIMA is ready to buy the empty seats to help facilitate launching direct flights between the two countries. Shafeyee said. 

He noted that the flight is to connect Tehran to Tashkent and Kyrgyz capital Bishkek to help reduce the costs. he said. adding that Iran asked the Uzbek embassy to take necessary measures to materialize the goal.

Abdullayev. for his part. said that several Uzbek airlines have also agreed to establish direct flights to Iran to facilitate trade exchanges between the two countries.

In a related front in the bilateral relations between the two countries. a senior Uzbek official announced in late October that connecting Uzbekistan to Chabahar Port. in Southeastern Iran. will play a big role for Tashkent to promote transit of goods and will lead to economic growth both for Uzbekistan and Iran.

Deputy Managing Director of Uzbekistan Railway Sagdullaev Fazlitdin Fatkhullaevich said that the long track had a great capacity in transportation of goods from the north to south of Iran. where it meets Chabahar Port – a strategic hub connecting Iran to free waters and Indian Ocean.

Upon completion. the project would lead to the promotion of trades and boosting economic relations between the two countries. he added.

Fatkhullaevich noted that Iran had a significant share in Uzbekistan`s market. and said. Tashkent is looking forward to connect to the free waters via Iranian routes and Chabahar Port.

He expressed the hope that the Chabahar-Zahedan railroad project would become operational in near future. and said the railway will play help linking the Central Asian countries to free waters.

Chabahar-Zahedan Railroad is envisaged to facilitate the transport of goods from India to the landlocked countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States as well as Afghanistan.

The official also urged the necessity of boosting trilateral cooperation between Iran. Uzbekistan and Afghanistan to link via extension of the Termez–Hairatan railway which connects Uzbekistan to Mazar-e-Sharif in Afghanistan. The railway is expected to create a reliable. safe. and sustainable transport link between Afghanistan and its neighboring countries to increase regional cooperation and trade.
