Armenian Ambassador Asks for Revival of Strong Trade Ties with Iran

Armenian Ambassador to Tehran Artashes Toumanian in a meeting with Head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) Hamid Zadboom underlined the necessity for the revival of trade relations between the two countries which were affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

In the meeting in Tehran on Sunday, Toumanian expressed his country’s tendency for expansion of trade ties with Iran and swap of goods with the country.

Armenia is interested in expanding trade relations with Iran more than before, he said.

Commercial trade between the two countries should be revived by returning trade activities and relations to pre-Corona conditions and swapping goods, Toumanian said.

He also called for more information on Iran’s export capabilities in the field of anti-coronavirus products.

The Iranian official, for his turn, said that we still expect to see the expansion of trade between the two countries due to the great potential of cooperation between the two sides.

As said in this meeting, Iran and Armenia will hold the first meeting of their mutual industrial and commercial working group very soon.

In relevant remarks on May 10, Deputy head of the Iranian presidency’s office for scientific affairs Mehdi Qalenoyee said that Iranian firms are going to export.

Qalenoyee said export of two types of coronavirus test kits to the Philippines and Pakistan was waiting for confirmation from the local officials after Iranian companies manufacturing the special tools sent sample kits to labs in those countries.

He added that India, Nigeria and Armenia will receive the items once travel restrictions are eased.
