Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazzem Jalali and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov in a telephone conversation reviewed broadening of mutual cooperation and regional developments.
During the phone talk on Thursday night, Jalali and Ryabkov discussed important issues such as sanctions unilaterally imposed by the US against Iran and Washington’s attempts to extend Iran’s arms embargo.
They also reviewed baseless accusations raised by some western countries with regards to Iran’s space activities, politicization of activity of International Monetary Fund [IMF] by the United States and battling the coronavirus epidemic.
In a relevant development in late April, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a phone conversation late with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin emphasized the necessity of upgrading relations with Russia and accelerating previous treaties inked between the two countries.
Rouhani referred to the coronavirus outbreak in most countries, hoping that all would be able to overcome the virus in the near future through collective cooperation.
“Officials of the two countries should endeavor to set the ground for commercial exchanges observing health protocols,” he said.
Rouhani criticized US cruel sanctions against Iran under the current hard conditions and hampering the way of IMF loan payment to Iran, saying that “the world faces tough times when all friendly states should have closer relations with each other”.
Vladimir Putin, for his part, referred to the coronavirus outbreak across the world and called for further cooperation and sharing experiences between the two countries to pass through the present hard days.
He also underlined the need for expediting agreements reached earlier between the two countries.
“Russia has had strategic ties with Iran and always welcomes promoting mutual cooperation,” Putin said.
He also described anti-Iran sanctions contrary to human rights, saying that the West preaches a lot on human rights while practicing differently.
