Iran is making rapid forays into the European crude oil market.

It is no surprise that historically Iran’s national tanker line NITC is the largest provider of tonnage.

Iranian crude exports via tankers jumped to 563 shipments last year from 66 in 2012.

That’s the first oil consignment sent to Indonesia after the elimination of international sanctions in 2016.

Iran possessed the largest tanker fleet in the world and the capacity of vessels belonging to NITC has climbed to over 15.5 million tons per year

35 contracts have been inked with European sides for taking out leases on 35 Iranian tankers.

Iran has reportedly started sending its first direct shipments of crude oil to Europe.

NITC has leased 30 of its tankers to foreign companies since JCPOA implementation.
