Putin and the Shell boss will discuss the Sakhalin-2 liquefied natural gas (LNG) project on Russia’s Pacific coast.

Norway sent a record high volume of gas to Europe this summer.

The Nord Stream 2 project company had intended to go to the market for external financing for up to 70% of the total cost this year.

Shell said in 2014 that the project could cost as much as C$40 billion ($31 billion).

Exxon. Chevron and Occidental are now the first U.S. energy companies to join the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative.

Methane is released into the atmosphere mostly through leaks in gas infrastructure such as pumps and pipelines.

The oil sector managed from June 2014 until now to sign 63 new oil and gas exploration deals.
